Innovation is a MUST!
12th May 2019Change is the only constant. Veterinary medicine has evolved and changed vastly in the past few decades and will only continue to do so.
Not only has the science of medicine has changed, the customer is no longer the same too. In this age, we want things faster, easier, more personalised, more quality, more value is warranted. The delivery of the same medicine is evolving too. Expectations are higher, we are more demanding. Vets expect better results of procedures and medicine. With that comes with greater expectations from clients in terms of compliance. Pet owners demand more and expect more from their vets in terms of results, service and value.
We can’t sit still. We are not meant to sit still. We want more. We demand more. We want it easier, softer, harder, more colourful, faster. It is the nature of the world. Things change, we change. What worked yesterday may not work tomorrow. If we do not evolve, we stand the risk of being obsolete. Take Blockbusters and Toys’R’Us for example, giants in the consumer industry and suddenly, ‘poof’ they disappeared overnight.
How can the world’s largest book store not own a single bookshop? Amazon.
How can the world’s largest accommodation provider not own a single building? AirBnB.
How does the world’s largest movie provider not own a single cinema? Netflix.
How does the world’s largest taxi service not own a single taxi? Uber.
The world is changing. We need to change but the challenge is to balance the change and retaining traditional values that matter. At Amity, we keep the core value of helping pet owners but constantly challenge in the way we think, the things we do and how we spend our time in delivering the service. That is why Innovation is our third Core Value.
