Gratitude for Amity Family Members

It has been a year since Amity brought in the membership (first in UK, no other vet practices operate a membership scheme). It was quite an exciting but at the same time, nerve-wrecking time for us. The key reason behind this seemingly controversial idea is to allow us to deliver the right service to the right customer to obtain the right results. We understand our limitations. We cannot be everything to everyone. We have worked very hard to develop a specific style of service to cater to pet owners and their pets who find vet experiences stressful by providing a calm approach.

We realise not every pet owners want this. There are plenty of other vet practices around and what we want to make sure is every pet owner finds a vet that is a good fit for them and their pet’s needs. Sometimes, this means recommending another vet practice to a pet owner who may be better suited for them and not us. It is important to us that all pet owners are happy with their vets.

So, as you can imagine, informing our the-current clients was met with mixed results. Some of them were not interested in becoming a member and felt our service was not worth it (I can simply say that the team works hard to improve everyday!). They have since left us to vets more suitable for their needs. Others have joined the membership as they see the value of Amity for them and their pets. Throughout the year, more and more pet owners have joined us through word of mouth, liking our style, our values, our team, our events and finding us suitable for their specific needs. The uptake is much slower than any other practice that I have worked for where no memberships exist.

However, the quality of clients is amazing. These special pet owners (whom we have come to know better each time) are more like friends than customers. We love meeting them, hearing their stories, working with them to address their pets’ issues and just in general, enjoy their presence and company. Gone were the days where we dread a client coming in or having difficult clients to work with. Their beliefs and expectations are aligned with ours, making working (and social) interactions not only productive but also ridiculously pleasurable. It is an incredible way to work!
Less than two weeks ago, we held our first Amity Christmas Awards Evening. It is like the Oscars for pet owners. It was such pleasure seeing Amity Members there, receiving well-deserved awards and seeing the support that we have. It was amazing. We are truly grateful.

This passage is dedicated to Amity Family Members… Thank you for your trust in us to take care of your beloved pet(s). Thank you for supporting our way of working, values and beliefs. We know we are in good hands with your support. We do (seriously) love working with you. We hope that you are never too apologetic when asking us for help. You are under our care and it is a true honour to be in a position to be able to help. Thank you for allowing us to be in that position to provide value by joining our family. I speak on behalf of the Amity Team that we feel incredibly blessed to be able to give value to you, helping you to become your pet’s hero. Thank you for your generosity. YOU TRULY ROCK!
