The Strangest and most Mysterious Phenomenon
14th April 2019Today, I am going to share with you a phenomenon I have encountered repeatedly in my career. It is a phenomenon that has happened to my counterparts, my team members and my other friends in the profession again and again. Read more if you like to find out moreā¦
When I was a final year student at the Royal Vet College, we spent a lot of time in the vet hospital where our role was to meet and greet the client, take a history, present the history to the senior clinician and discuss our preliminary findings to them. What I found was that the history given to me was very different to the history given to the clinician. It just made me look silly and annoyed that I could not perform to my best because I received inaccurate information. This happened again in practice, at multiple occasions where clients tell nurses different things to the vet.
Another incident happened when after examining the pet, I (3 years qualified) explained the diagnosis and treatment options. The client dismissed me and asked for a senior vet instead. The senior vet said the exact same thing as what I did and the client was nodding in agreement and commented on what a wonderful vet he was, etc. I was flabbergasted as I said the same thing and possibly even more succinctly than he did! Such is life!
Why do people do this? Comment below if you had a similar experience. Comment below if you feel you have a great answer so this phenomenon can be explained to future generations! Have a great Sunday!
